- Genova, R. Petkov, G. Garvanska
Applications of DWI in the male and female pelvis are already well established and the technique is included in the mandatory routine protocols for diagnosis and staging of the malignancies of the prostate, the body and the cervix of the uterus, the ovaries, the bladder and the rectum, and for assessement of the therapy response. In this article will be reviewed extensively the applications of DWI in the pelvis.Whole body DWI is a new technique for evaluation of the spread of a malignance and provides information, similar to that provided by Positron emission tomography. The lack of ionizing radiation makes the method preferable for follow-up and is a prerequisite for wider application.
