Bronchopulmonary adenocarcinoma is one of the major types of primary malignancies of the lungs, accounting for approximately one-third of all primary lung cancers. In the presence of histologically verified metastases, positron emission tomography, combined with a computer tomograph (PET/CT), may detect the primary localization of a malignant disease before the structural changes become visible. Hybrid imaging methods in clinical practice have revealed new possibilities for diagnosis and control of therapy in patients with neoplasms.
