Early stage breast cancer visible on contrast enhanced spectral mammography (CESM) not detectable on the conventional digital mammography (FFDM)

The goal is to demonstrate some advantages of contrast enhanced spectral mammography (CESM) for diagnosis of breast cancer. In our case a 41 year old patient was diagnosed with early stage of breast cancer. Her case demonstrates greater sensitivity of CESM for detection of primary tumor lesion and search for any additional satellite foci. Sensitivity of the method is comparable to more expensive and time consuming magnetic resonance (MR) examination. CESM is superior to both conventional full field digital mammography (FFDM) and ultrasound we performed, which can be related tor the higher density of the breast parenchyma in this patient and in general.
