Diagnostic imaging in complications of paediatric hepatic transplantation
Post-transplant complications are a relatively rare pathology in pediatric recipients of liver transplants in Bulgaria. Taking into consideration the aspiration for constant development of transplantology in our country, it becomes feasible that these conditions may see an increase in frequency. Because of this, we aim to present a concise and highly informative review of the diagnostic imaging aspects of the potential post-transplant complications. They include vascular, biliary, infectious and posttransplant lymphoproliferative entities. Among them anastomotic insufficiency stands out. Most of these conditions have reliable diagnostic imaging characteristics – an in depth knowledge of which is crucial for the radiologist performing the follow-up imaging. Despite the focus on pediatric imaging, the findings described overlap with those found in the adult population.
