Contrast-enhanced ultrasound examination and contrast-enhanced intraoperative ultrasound examination of malignant hepatic lesions
I. Vazharov

Abstract.
The purpose of this study is to investigate the potentialities of the contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) and contrast-enhanced intraoperative ultrasound (CEIOUS) of primary and secondary hepatic carcinoma. We performed CEUS and CEIOUS of 14 operated patients – 4 with primary and 10 with metastatic hepatic carcinoma for a period of two years. We used an ultrasound apparatus Aloka SDD 5500 (Aloka Ltd, Tokyo) with 3-6 MHz a convex transducer for Bmode. All the patients gave their informed consent, but we didn’t seek the approval of the Ethic committee in the hospital, because the apparatus SonoVue is licensed for examination of the liver in our country. We didn’t find any additional lesions by CEUS and CEIOUS in comparison to IOUS in this study. Nevertheless the cases in the present study are not enough to make general conclusions of the potentialities of CEUS and CEIOUS in the resection of the primary and metastatic hepatic
carcinoma.
