Computed tomography in coronary anomalies and anatomic variations
Knowledge on coronary arteries anatomy is always been of great interest and it is today of substantial importance for clinical practice. The improvement of imaging modalitiesadds new understanding in anatomy and especially in coronary anomalies. However, there is no unanimous classification in anatomic variation of coronary arteries. The goal of this review is to summarize literature data on coronary arteries anomalies and anatomic variations and on the role of the computed tomography coronarography in its delineating. One of the proposed classifications of coronary anomalies distinguishes anomalies in origin, anomalies of the course and anomalies in the termination. Conventional catheter angiography has been use to evaluate the coronary arteries. Now days computed tomography offer new possibilities for visualization of coronary anatomy. Due to recent technological improvement multirow computed tomography coronarography is a test of choice and becomes major method for preprocedure or preoperative assessment of coronary anomalies.
